Javier Pastore, the agent of Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez, has revealed that his client is exploring options to leave the club during the current summer transfer window. The Argentina international has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge for several months, and Pastore’s comments suggest a departure is increasingly likely.
Fernandez has been a key player for Chelsea since joining from Benfica in January 2023, but the club are reportedly willing to consider offers in the region of €140 million. The 25-year-old was previously reported to have flirted with a move to Real Madrid during the March international break, resulting in a temporary ban from the Chelsea hierarchy.
Speaking to Marca, Pastore stated that Fernandez is currently focused on Argentina’s participation in the World Cup, but that they are simultaneously assessing potential transfer opportunities. “Today the player is calmly focused on the national team, he's playing in a World Cup, he's very close to advancing to the round of 16,” Pastore explained. “He's only thinking about that and we're looking at possibilities for him to leave Chelsea, but there's nothing firm or confirmed with any club.”
Pastore also acknowledged Fernandez’s connections to Real Madrid, noting his friendship with Julian Alvarez and his own residence in the Spanish capital. While he stopped short of confirming any concrete negotiations with Los Blancos, he alluded to the appeal of the club. Real Madrid have already been active in the transfer market, completing deals for Marc Cucurella, Bernardo Silva, and Ibrahima Konate, with an agreement also in place for Denzel Dumfries.
Despite having six years remaining on his contract with Chelsea, Fernandez’s exit appears increasingly probable, particularly given the Blues’ reported interest in Sunderland’s Granit Xhaka. This suggests the club are already making preparations for life without the Argentinian midfielder. A deal could potentially be finalised before the transfer deadline on September 1st.
