Fiorentina have completed the permanent signing of Arthur Atta from Udinese, the club confirmed on Tuesday. The 23-year-old midfielder joins the Viola after a successful season with Udinese, where he registered five goals and four assists in 32 Serie A appearances. Financial details of the transfer were not disclosed by either club.
Atta expressed his enthusiasm for the move, stating that conversations with Sporting Director Paratici and manager Grosso convinced him that Fiorentina was the right place to continue his development. He highlighted the club’s ambition to grow and the passion of the fanbase as key factors in his decision. The player also noted his admiration for Grosso’s proactive style of play, which emphasizes possession and attacking movement.
Formerly a youth player in France, Atta has quickly established himself as a promising talent in Serie A. His former sporting director at Udinese, Gianluca Nani, has previously described him as “a mix between Bellingham and Zidane,” indicating the high regard in which he is held. Atta himself cited Cristiano Ronaldo and Paul Pogba as his idols, despite acknowledging the historical rivalry between Fiorentina and Juventus.
Atta primarily plays as a left-sided central midfielder in a 4-3-3 formation, a system Grosso is expected to utilize at Fiorentina. He believes this tactical setup will allow him to maximize his potential, contributing both goals and assists to the team. The player emphasized his readiness to learn and his commitment to repaying the faith shown in him by the club. He also spoke positively of his new teammate, Fabio Fagioli, describing him as a “very strong” player who brings calmness to the game.
The signing of Atta bolsters Fiorentina’s midfield options ahead of the upcoming season, providing competition and depth. It represents a strategic investment in a young, dynamic player who could become a key component of Grosso’s project.
