Five players with Juventus connections will feature when Fiorentina travel to Turin to face the Bianconeri on the penultimate matchday of the Serie A season. The fixture will see Fabio Paratici, Daniele Rugani, Nicolò Fagioli, Rolando Mandragora, and Moise Kean return to the Allianz Stadium as members of the opposing team, according to reports in the Italian media.
Paratici’s presence is unique, as he currently serves as Fiorentina’s sporting director, having previously held the same role at Juventus from 2018 to 2021. During his time in Turin, Paratici oversaw several high-profile signings, including Cristiano Ronaldo, and played a key role in the club’s Serie A dominance. His move to Fiorentina signaled a shift in strategy for the Viola, who have sought to emulate Juventus’s success in the transfer market.
Daniele Rugani and Nicolò Fagioli both made the permanent switch to Fiorentina in January 2024. Rugani, a defender, had two spells at Juventus, interrupted by a season at Cagliari, and accumulated over 100 appearances for the club. Fagioli, a midfielder, progressed through Juventus’s youth system and established himself as a regular in the first team before his transfer. Both players were reportedly deemed surplus to requirements by Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri.
Rolando Mandragora also joined Fiorentina in January, completing a move from Udinese. He previously had a brief stint at Juventus between 2018 and 2020, but failed to make a significant impact. The midfielder has found more consistent playing time at Fiorentina, becoming a key component of Vincenzo Italiano’s midfield.
Moise Kean is currently on loan at Fiorentina from Juventus, having rejoined his former club in the summer of 2023. Kean initially came through Juventus’s youth academy before spells at Everton and Paris Saint-Germain. While he has shown flashes of potential, the forward has struggled for consistency throughout his career.
Juventus currently sit third in Serie A following their recent victory over Lecce, and control their own destiny in the race for Champions League qualification. A win against Fiorentina would significantly boost their chances of securing a top-four finish. The influx of former players into the Fiorentina squad adds an extra layer of intrigue to what is already a highly anticipated match.
