Eintracht Frankfurt have completed the signing of Otávio from Portuguese Primeira Liga side CF Estrela Amadora, the Bundesliga club announced on Tuesday.
The 20-year-old Brazilian central defender has agreed to a long-term contract with Frankfurt, extending until June 2031. Otávio will undergo a medical examination upon arrival in Frankfurt before joining the team’s training camp in Grassau.
Otávio made 22 first-team appearances for Estrela Amadora last season, playing a significant role in the club’s successful fight to remain in the Portuguese topflight. He will wear the number five shirt for Frankfurt.
Sporting director Timmo Hardung highlighted Otávio’s potential, stating the club are bringing in a “young, highly talented central defender with a lot of potential for development.” Hardung further praised Otávio’s physical attributes and defensive mindset, adding that the player is “left-footed, tall, athletic, fast, and combines these qualities with a strong defensive mentality.”
Estrela Amadora enjoyed a positive end to the 2023-24 season, securing their Primeira Liga status after a challenging campaign. Otávio’s consistent performances in defence were crucial to their survival. Frankfurt, meanwhile, are bolstering their defensive options ahead of the upcoming Bundesliga season.
The addition of a young, left-footed centre-back addresses a specific need within the Frankfurt squad, providing competition and depth in a key position. This move signifies Frankfurt’s commitment to developing young talent and strengthening their defensive capabilities for the future.
