Remo Freuler is weighing a return to Bologna after his contract expired with his previous club, according to reports in Italy. The Swiss midfielder is currently a free agent, having most recently played in Serie A, and has received offers from clubs in Saudi Arabia, Greece, and Italy, including Sassuolo.
However, sources indicate that Bologna remains Freuler’s preferred destination, with the player and his family favouring a move back to the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara. Freuler is reportedly willing to accept a salary within Bologna’s wage structure, potentially supplemented by performance-based bonuses, to facilitate the transfer. He previously played for Bologna from 2014 to 2016, becoming a key figure in midfield during his time at the club.
Bologna manager Thiago Tedesco has been assessing his squad during pre-season, experimenting with formations including a 4-3-3 and a 4-2-3-1. The club has been focusing on improving its aerobic conditioning, though Tedesco acknowledged the team’s attack still needs refinement.
