Galatasaray are considering a summer transfer for Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Can Uzun, according to a report in Türkiye Gazetesi. The 20-year-old, who has impressed in his debut season in Germany, is viewed as a potential solution to bolster Galatasaray’s creative options in central midfield.
Uzun has been a key player for Frankfurt this season, making 28 competitive appearances and contributing 16 goals across all competitions. He joined the Bundesliga side from 1. FC Nürnberg last summer for a reported fee of €11 million and quickly established himself as a regular starter, showcasing his attacking prowess from midfield. His performances have drawn attention from several clubs, including Galatasaray.
Galatasaray president Dursun Özbek and coach Okan Buruk are scheduled to discuss a potential deal for Uzun at an upcoming planning meeting. The club reportedly sees Uzun as a particularly attractive option due to his Turkish citizenship, which would allow him to register without occupying a foreign player slot in their squad. This is a significant advantage for Galatasaray, who are often restricted by league regulations regarding the number of non-Turkish players they can field.
Eintracht Frankfurt are believed to be open to selling Uzun this summer, with the club hoping to receive a fee in the region of €50-60 million. This valuation reflects the player’s age, potential, and recent performances. While Frankfurt would be reluctant to lose a valuable asset, a substantial offer could prove too tempting to resist, particularly as they assess their squad for the next campaign.
Galatasaray are also reportedly pursuing Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva as an alternative option in the playmaker position. However, securing Uzun is considered a priority, and the club has already made significant progress in exploring the feasibility of a transfer. The potential arrival of either player would significantly strengthen Galatasaray’s midfield ahead of their title defence in the upcoming Süper Lig season.
