Aston Villa have completed the signing of Alejandro Garnacho on loan from Chelsea, the club confirmed on Thursday. The deal includes an option to buy, which could become an obligation depending on certain performance-related criteria. According to Birmingham Live, the option to make the transfer permanent is valued at €50 million and will be triggered should Garnacho feature in a specified number of matches for Villa – reported to be 22.
Should Aston Villa activate the purchase option, Garnacho is expected to sign a four-year contract with the club. The 22-year-old Argentinian international has eight senior caps for his country.
Garnacho began his professional career at Manchester United, making his debut in 2022 before moving to Chelsea in the summer of 2025. Aston Villa had previously expressed interest in signing him at that time. During his 43 appearances for Chelsea, Garnacho scored eight goals and provided four assists, but failed to fully establish himself as a key player at Stamford Bridge.
The loan move for Garnacho bolsters Aston Villa’s attacking options following the departure of Morgan Rogers to Chelsea for a club-record fee. Villa have already replaced Rogers in midfield with the signing of Swiss international Johan Manzambi. Garnacho’s arrival provides manager Unai Emery with further depth and versatility in wide areas, potentially offering a direct replacement for Rogers’ attacking output. This transfer signals Villa’s continued ambition to compete at the higher end of the Premier League.
