Roma manager Gian Piero Gasperini is prioritizing contract renewals for key players Paulo Dybala, Lorenzo Pellegrini, Zeki Celik, Gianluca Mancini, and Bryan Cristante, according to reports in Italy. Discussions are underway with the players and the club’s ownership, led by Ryan Friedkin, to secure their futures at the Stadio Olimpico.
Gasperini has publicly expressed his desire to retain the core of the squad that achieved Champions League qualification. For Dybala and Pellegrini, the club is offering two-year contract extensions. The potential deals for both players are structured as either a straight two years or a one-year extension with an option for a further year, potentially tied to performance and physical condition, particularly for Dybala, who the club views as an ideal figurehead for their upcoming centenary celebrations.
Pellegrini, who has been at Roma since 2017, currently earns €6.5 million per season and is negotiating a renewal worth between €2-2.5 million plus bonuses annually. Celik, similarly, is expected to receive an increased salary, potentially rising to over €2-2.5 million with bonuses, having reportedly turned down offers from other clubs, including Galatasaray. Roma can also benefit from Italy’s growth decree to reduce the net cost of Celik’s wages.
Mancini and Cristante, both considered integral to Gasperini’s plans, are in talks to sign long-term deals extending to 2029 with an option for a further year. Mancini’s salary is expected to increase from €3 million to over €3.5 million, with performance-based bonuses, while Cristante is set to receive a similar offer. Cristante recently reached a milestone, becoming one of the most appearances for Roma in the club’s history. Gasperini aims to build his Roma squad around these players as he prepares for a season with multiple objectives.
The coming week is considered crucial for these negotiations, with the club aiming to finalize these renewals before focusing on incoming transfers and addressing financial fair play regulations.
