Rino Gattuso is set to be appointed as the new head coach of Lazio, with an agreement in place until 2028, according to reports from Italy. The deal is reportedly worth €1.7 million per season, with an option for a third season included. This appointment comes as Lazio look to solidify their squad and build upon recent successes.
Gattuso’s first task at the Stadio Olimpico will be to retain key players, with captain Mattia Zaccagni and central defender Mario Gila both attracting interest from other clubs. Zaccagni has reportedly been a target for Marseille, while Gila has drawn attention from Napoli, Milan, Juventus, Atletico Madrid, and Bournemouth. However, the situation surrounding Alessio Romagnoli is more uncertain.
Romagnoli, the 1995-born defender, is reportedly a target for Al Sadd of Qatar, who have already agreed personal terms with the player for a three-year contract worth €6 million per season plus bonuses. While a move failed to materialize in January, Al Sadd are expected to return with a renewed offer. Romagnoli previously played for Milan, and a move to Qatar would represent a significant change in his career.
Meanwhile, across the city at Roma, the club is reportedly prioritizing the signing of Mason Greenwood from Marseille as a new winger. They also have an interest in Dodò, the Brazilian right-back currently at Fiorentina. Roma are also progressing with contract renewals for key players Mancini, Cristante, and Pellegrini, with all three expected to sign new deals until 2029, albeit with reduced wages for Pellegrini and Cristante. Paulo Dybala is also close to extending his contract, accepting a significant pay cut from €8 million plus bonuses to €2.5 million per year plus bonuses.
Roma are looking to offload Ziolkowski, who is attracting interest from Nottingham Forest, as well as Dovbyk and Ferguson, who will return to Brighton. Elsewhere in Serie A, newly promoted Venezia are pursuing Füllkrug, currently on loan at Milan from West Ham, and are also interested in free agent Kostic, whose contract with Juventus is expiring. They have also identified Tommaso Berti of Cesena as a potential signing. Genoa are looking to make Baldanzi’s loan from Roma permanent for a fee of €10 million.
Parma are in talks with Olympiacos regarding a permanent deal for Strefezza, while Udinese are nearing the completion of a permanent transfer for Zaniolo from Galatasaray. Cagliari may part ways with their sporting director Angelozzi, who is reportedly being courted by Cremonese. Atalanta have renewed Marco Rossi’s contract until 2027 and are set to announce Gian Piero Gasperini as their new manager, and are also interested in Gaetano and Jashari. Deportivo La Coruna have triggered the release clause for Mulattieri from Sassuolo, who have received inquiries for Muharemovic from Tottenham and Bournemouth.
