Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White has been encouraged to carefully consider a potential move to Tottenham Hotspur, according to former Tottenham scout Bryan King. The advice comes after Spurs triggered Gibbs-White’s £60 million release clause last summer, an approach Forest contested as unlawful and threatened legal action over.
Gibbs-White subsequently signed a new contract with Forest, but speculation regarding his future has resurfaced. King suggests that a move to a club with greater European ambitions, like Tottenham, could be beneficial for Gibbs-White’s international prospects, questioning whether he has a greater chance of regaining a place in the England squad playing in London. Spurs have already added Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali to their midfield options this summer.
The six-times capped England international has not featured for the national team since October 2025 and may view a transfer as a pathway back into contention. However, Forest are reportedly determined to retain the player, especially after recently selling Elliot Anderson to Manchester City for £116 million. Club officials are said to believe Gibbs-White is worth an even higher fee than Anderson.
Tottenham have already spent approximately £230 million this summer, including £185 million on midfielders, making a further significant outlay on Gibbs-White appear less likely. Several other clubs have also expressed interest, including Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich, and Atletico Madrid. However, the financial activity of United, City, and Chelsea in the transfer market may limit their willingness to pursue Gibbs-White aggressively. Forest are currently preparing to reject all offers for the player, maintaining a firm stance on his future at the City Ground.
