Alejandro Grimaldo is set to join Atletico Madrid from Bayer Leverkusen after agreeing personal terms, with the clubs now negotiating a fee in the region of €24-30 million. Fabrizio Romano reports that Grimaldo has informed Leverkusen of his desire to move to the Spanish capital following Real Madrid’s acquisition of Marc Cucurella.
Romano also provided updates on several other transfer situations, beginning with Nico Paz, the young midfielder currently at Como who is also a Real Madrid player. A meeting between Como and Real Madrid is scheduled to discuss the player’s future, with Real Madrid wanting to restructure the buy-back agreement to potentially resell Paz to Como. Como, however, wish to maintain the existing arrangement with the buy-back clause extending to 2027. The player’s future ultimately rests with Real Madrid, who have already agreed contract terms with Paz.
Barcelona continue to pursue Julian Alvarez from Atletico Madrid, despite having a €100 million bid rejected. Atletico remain firm in their stance that Alvarez is not for sale, but Barcelona are hopeful of changing their minds. Real Madrid previously submitted a €150 million offer, but have not followed up. Chelsea are also reportedly uninterested in selling Joao Pedro, dashing Barcelona’s hopes of a potential alternative.
Lucas Bergvall, a Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, has expressed his desire to leave the club due to concerns about playing time under Roberto De Zerbi. While he remains happy with his decision to join Spurs, he fears limited opportunities with the potential arrival of Sandro Tonali. Tottenham are reportedly open to offers in the region of £45-50 million. Brighton are also monitoring the situation alongside other clubs.
West Ham United’s Mateus Fernandes is attracting interest from several top clubs, including Tottenham and Manchester United. Both clubs are in discussions with Fernandes’ agent, Jorge Mendes, with West Ham valuing the player at around £85 million. Jose Mourinho’s club are also considering Fernandes as a potential midfield addition. The club offering the most convincing proposal to West Ham is expected to secure the transfer.
Finally, Atletico Madrid have also agreed personal terms with Kang-in Lee, with negotiations ongoing with Paris Saint-Germain to finalize a full agreement. The South Korean international has been a long-term target for Atletico, despite interest from Premier League clubs.
