Chelsea have been advised to pursue a move for Manchester United midfielder Casemiro, whose contract at Old Trafford expires in June, in order to enhance the performance of Moises Caicedo and improve their prospects of attracting a high-profile manager. Former Chelsea player and manager Ruud Gullit believes the club is lacking experienced players capable of guiding their young talent, and identified the Brazilian as an ideal addition.
According to MrRaffle.com, Gullit stated that any prospective manager would prioritize signing experienced players like Casemiro or Aurelien Tchouameni to provide stability and mentorship in midfield. He highlighted the importance of experienced players in guiding younger teammates, both on and off the pitch, using Paris Saint-Germain as an example of a club successfully blending youth and experience. Gullit specifically believes Caicedo would benefit from having a calming influence like Casemiro alongside him, offering tactical guidance and support.
Gullit also expressed broader concerns regarding the direction of Chelsea under its new ownership group, BlueCo, fearing a potential collapse of the project as key players are reportedly seeking moves away. He questioned the club’s transfer strategy, suggesting that incoming managers are not given sufficient input on player recruitment, leading to a disjointed squad. The lack of experienced voices within the team is contributing to a sense of dissatisfaction among players who aspire to win trophies.
Chelsea currently sit ninth in the Premier League and face the possibility of missing out on European football altogether unless they can secure victory in the FA Cup final against Manchester City on Saturday. Gullit believes the club needs to clarify its long-term philosophy to appease fans who have grown accustomed to success, having recently experienced Champions League triumphs. He suggests either a clear statement of intent or a commitment to the current strategy, acknowledging the fans’ demand for trophies and their limited patience.
