Josko Gvardiol has offered his services to Real Madrid as the Spanish club search for central defensive reinforcements, according to a report in Diario AS. The Manchester City defender is open to a move to the Bernabeu should he leave the Etihad Stadium this summer.
Real Madrid have been actively pursuing several central defenders in recent months, including Marc Guehi, Dayot Upamecano, and Ibrahima Konate, but have so far been unsuccessful in securing any of those targets. This has prompted the club to explore alternative options, with Gvardiol emerging as a potential candidate. Real Madrid’s interest in the Croatia international dates back to 2023, prior to his transfer to Manchester City.
Currently, Gvardiol has two years remaining on his contract with Manchester City, and negotiations for an extension are not progressing. As a result, his representatives are exploring potential exit opportunities, with the player reportedly favouring a move to Real Madrid if he departs the Premier League champions. The 24-year-old has been a regular in Pep Guardiola’s side this season, making 35 appearances across all competitions.
The report also indicates that Bernardo Silva, another Manchester City player, has been offered to Real Madrid. Silva’s contract at the Etihad Stadium is set to expire this summer, making him a free agent and an attractive option for Los Blancos. Real Madrid are expected to undergo significant squad changes in the summer transfer window, particularly with the anticipated arrival of a new manager, widely expected to be Jose Mourinho.
Defence is identified as a key area for improvement, and the potential signings of Gvardiol and Silva would represent a significant strengthening of the squad. The club will be looking to build a team capable of challenging for both domestic and European honours next season. The arrival of either player could significantly alter the dynamic of the Real Madrid squad and provide competition for existing players.
