Mathilde Harviken has completed a permanent transfer from Juventus Women to Aston Villa, the Italian club confirmed on Friday. The Norwegian defender will continue her career in the Women’s Super League, departing Juventus after joining the club in January 2025.
The move marks a period of significant change for Juventus Women, with new manager Guerrero recently appointed and a roster overhaul underway. Harviken’s departure follows that of Estelle Cascarino, further reshaping the team that has enjoyed recent success in Italy.
Juventus released a statement thanking Harviken for her contributions, noting her 50 appearances and two goals for the club. During her time in Turin, the 2001-born player secured one Scudetto, one Coppa Italia, one Supercoppa Italiana, and the Serie A Women’s Cup.
Cascarino has also made her move to the WSL permanent, joining West Ham after a loan spell with the London club earlier this year. The French midfielder arrived at Juventus in the summer of 2023 and totalled 51 appearances, contributing to the winning of one Scudetto, one Coppa Italia, and one Supercoppa Italiana.
Both departures signal Juventus’s intent to rebuild under Guerrero, while Aston Villa and West Ham strengthen their squads with experienced players from a dominant force in Italian women’s football. Harviken’s defensive qualities will be a welcome addition to Aston Villa as they look to improve their position in the WSL.
