Al Hilal defeated Al Kholood on Friday evening to win the Saudi Cup, marking the first trophy for recent arrival Theo Hernandez.
The Riyadh-based club went behind early in the fourth minute but responded strongly, scoring twice before halftime, including a goal from Hernandez.
The French left-back headed in a cross that was poorly cleared by the Al Kholood defence, finding the net past goalkeeper Juan Pablo Cozzani. This victory represents Al Hilal’s twelfth Saudi Cup triumph.
Hernandez joined Al Hilal from AC Milan and reportedly earns 20 million euros per season. He has now quickly added silverware to his time in Saudi Arabia.
Karim Benzema also played a key role in the victory, helping to maintain Al Hilal’s position in domestic competition. The club was recently eliminated from the Asian Champions League, but remains a force in Saudi football.
The win provides a boost for Al Hilal as they continue to compete on multiple fronts. Hernandez’s arrival was seen as a significant coup for the Saudi Pro League, and his immediate impact with a trophy win will further raise the league's profile.
