Hull City owner Acun Ilıcalı has confirmed the club are considering a move for Werder Bremen forward Justin Njinmah this summer, as the newly promoted Premier League side assesses potential attacking options.
The 25-year-old has been the subject of speculation regarding a potential move to England, and Ilıcalı publicly acknowledged Hull’s interest while speaking to Hull Live. He stated simply, “Yes,” when asked about the club’s pursuit of the German forward.
Ilıcalı further explained that Njinmah, who can play as both a winger and a striker, is one of twenty options currently under consideration by the Tigers. He also revealed that another unnamed “big club” had approached Hull offering players, indicating the club are exploring multiple avenues to strengthen their squad ahead of their return to the Premier League.
Njinmah joined Werder Bremen in 2022 and has become a regular feature for the Bundesliga side, making 88 appearances across all competitions. During his time in Germany, he has scored 14 goals and registered 6 assists, establishing himself as a versatile attacking threat. Last season, Njinmah featured in 32 Bundesliga matches, starting 22 and contributing 8 goals as Werder Bremen finished 10th.
Hull City’s promotion to the Premier League via the Championship play-offs has prompted significant investment and transfer activity. The club are looking to bolster their attacking options to ensure they remain competitive in the top flight, and Njinmah’s versatility could prove appealing. The potential addition of Njinmah would provide manager Liam Rosenior with another option in attack, complementing existing forward players and adding depth to the squad as they prepare for the challenges of the Premier League.
No fee or contract details have been disclosed at this stage, and Ilıcalı’s comments suggest Hull are still in the early stages of evaluating potential signings. The club will likely assess other options before making a firm move for Njinmah.
