Barcelona are holding discussions with agent Pini Zahavi regarding a potential move for Tottenham Hotspur centre-back Luka Vuskovic, according to reports from Sky Sport DE. The 19-year-old Croatian international is currently on loan at Bundesliga side Hamburg, where he has impressed this season.
Tottenham are reportedly keen to retain Vuskovic and are prepared to offer him a significant wage increase to demonstrate their commitment, as stated by Florian Plettenberg. However, Zahavi, who has established links with the Catalan club, is simultaneously exploring a transfer to Barcelona with the player. The situation remains open, and a second loan spell at Hamburg is currently considered unlikely.
Barcelona’s interest in Vuskovic is part of a wider search for central defensive reinforcements, though their primary target remains Inter Milan’s Alessandro Bastoni. Director of Football Deco has identified Bastoni as a priority signing, and the player has indicated his willingness to join Barcelona. However, manager Hansi Flick is yet to formally approve the deal, awaiting the securing of the La Liga title before further discussion with Deco.
Barcelona also retain interest in Manchester City defender Nathan Ake, who was considered as a potential option in January before the club opted to sign Joao Cancelo. The 31-year-old Ake’s contract at City expires next year, and his versatility – capable of playing both centre-back and left-back – appeals to Deco. A deal could prove challenging due to Barcelona’s financial constraints and City’s reluctance to sell Ake cheaply.
The pursuit of these defensive targets comes amid reports that Robert Lewandowski is questioning his future at the club after receiving a €15m salary offer, and Lionel Messi has publicly endorsed Barcelona star Lamine Yamal as his successor. Atlético Madrid are also considering offers for several players, potentially including targets of Barcelona’s.
