Arsenal have received a boost in their potential pursuit of Eli Junior Kroupi, with Barcelona reportedly opting out of a bidding war for the Bournemouth forward, according to Spanish publication Diario AS. The 20-year-old enjoyed a breakout season in 2025-26, scoring 13 Premier League goals and helping the Cherries secure a sixth-place finish and qualification for the UEFA Europa League.
Arsenal have shown interest in Kroupi, as reported by BBC Sport, as they seek to bolster their attacking options ahead of the new season. Barcelona had also been linked with the France Under-21 international, viewing him as a potential alternative to their primary target, Julián Álvarez of Atlético Madrid. However, an initial offer for Álvarez was rejected by the Spanish club.
Diario AS claims that Hansi Flick’s Barcelona side are unwilling to engage in an auction for Kroupi, and are instead exploring other options, including Real Sociedad striker Mikel Oyarzabal. Bournemouth have already publicly stated their intention to retain Kroupi, further complicating any potential deal.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are reassessing their attacking targets after missing out on Morgan Rogers, who is set to join Chelsea from Aston Villa for a reported €137 million (£117m). The Athletic understands Rogers was Arsenal’s top priority. The Gunners are now reportedly considering a move for Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola, with BBC Sport suggesting they have received encouragement that the player could be available this summer. Barcola is expected to discuss his future with PSG officials this week, with the French club reportedly valuing him at €150 million (£127.6m), as reported by L’Equipe. This development could provide Arsenal with an alternative option as they look to strengthen their squad.
