Celtic have completed the signing of Danish forward Kasper Høgh from Norwegian Eliteserien side Bodø/Glimt for a fee of £11 million, plus potential add-ons, according to Sky Sports. The transfer sees Høgh move to Glasgow in the middle of the Norwegian season.
The 25-year-old arrives at Celtic Park as a replacement for Daizen Maeda, who departed for Ipswich Town earlier this week for a fee of £10 million, as reported by The Herald. Høgh becomes Celtic’s third most expensive signing in the club’s history and the second-largest sale in Bodø/Glimt’s history.
Høgh has been a prolific goalscorer in European competitions over the past two seasons. Opta data reveals he is one of only two players outside of Europe’s ‘big five’ leagues to be involved in 15 or more goals – 12 goals and 4 assists – in European competitions, alongside Victor Osimhen. He notably contributed to all three of Bodø/Glimt’s goals in their Europa Conference League qualifying tie against Inter Milan, and also scored against Sporting CP in the Champions League last season.
This move marks the first time in his career that Høgh will play outside of the Nordic countries, having previously featured in the Danish, Icelandic, and Norwegian top flights. He quickly established himself as a key player for Bodø/Glimt, becoming their primary attacking threat. The transfer provides Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers with another attacking option as they look to retain their Scottish Premiership title and compete in European competitions. This acquisition is expected to bolster Celtic’s attacking line and provide competition for places.
