Goalkeeper Simone Scaglia has left Juventus after fifteen years with the club, the club confirmed. The 2004-born player departs following the expiration of his contract on June 30th, with negotiations for a renewal ultimately unsuccessful according to LaCasaDiC.com.
Scaglia progressed through the Juventus youth system, eventually making appearances for the Juventus Next Gen team managed by Massimo Brambilla. Last season, he featured in 13 matches for the Next Gen side, achieving four clean sheets. His departure follows the recent transfer of Diego Pugno to Ajax and Alessio Vacca’s loan move to Folgore Caratese, signalling a period of change for the Juventus youth setup.
Juventus had recently renewed contracts with young players Antonio Stefano Merola and Nicolo Milia, but were unable to reach an agreement with Scaglia. The goalkeeper had expressed gratitude for his time at the club in a social media post at the end of the season, a message now viewed as a farewell.
Scaglia was occasionally called up to the Juventus first team by manager Massimiliano Allegri, first appearing as a third-choice goalkeeper against Lazio in November 2022. He received further call-ups under Igor Tudor this past season, even being named on the bench for Como-Juventus following an injury to Carlo Pinsoglio. In total, Scaglia made 44 appearances across both the Primavera and Next Gen teams, keeping nine clean sheets.
