Inter Milan are progressing towards the signing of Anan Khalaili from Union Saint-Gilloise, according to reports in Italy. The 21-year-old Israeli international has been identified as a key target to fill the right-back position following the departure of Denzel Dumfries and the failed pursuit of Fabiano Parisi.
Negotiations with both the player and the Belgian club are reportedly at an advanced stage. Khalaili is believed to be keen on a five-year contract with Inter, worth slightly over €1.5 million per season. While an agreement with the player is not proving problematic, finalising a fee with Union Saint-Gilloise is the remaining hurdle.
Union Saint-Gilloise initially sought a transfer fee exceeding €25 million for Khalaili, but Inter’s persistent negotiations appear to be yielding results. Current estimates suggest a final agreement could be reached around €23 million, with potential performance-related bonuses. The club is aware of interest from other European sides, including Borussia Dortmund, who reportedly made inquiries.
Napoli had previously reached an agreement with Khalaili, but their need to sell players before making further acquisitions has created an opening for Inter. The Nerazzurri’s interest has quickly gained momentum, potentially proving decisive in securing the player’s signature. Inter’s owners, Oaktree, are reportedly supportive of the deal, viewing Khalaili as a young, reliable player with significant potential for future development. His arrival would align with the club’s strategy of investing in promising talent. Khalaili has established himself as a regular starter for Union Saint-Gilloise, demonstrating his ability to contribute effectively in both attack and defence.
