Inter are initiating discussions to extend the contract of forward Pio Esposito, according to reports in Italy. The 21-year-old’s current deal with the Nerazzurri runs until 2030, but the club are keen to reward his recent performances and further secure his future in Milan.
Esposito broke into the Inter first team last season, making 48 appearances across all competitions and contributing 10 goals and 6 assists. He first featured for the senior squad during Inter’s successful campaign at the Club World Cup, debuting against Urawa Red Diamonds and later scoring against River Plate. Manager Simone Inzaghi and his staff, including Cristian Chivu, have been impressed with Esposito’s development and commitment.
The club initially secured Esposito with a long-term contract in April 2025, describing it as continuing “a family story.” Inter view Esposito as virtually unsellable, alongside captain Lautaro Martinez, and recognize his importance to both the present and future of the team. The player himself reportedly wishes to remain at Inter for the long term, with his agent, Giuffredi, stating Esposito wants to stay with the club for ten years.
Negotiations are expected to begin before the start of the new season, though the timeline may be influenced by other transfer business. Inter will aim to agree a new deal and extended expiry date that reflects Esposito’s value to the club. The forward will join the squad for pre-season training in Germany in mid-July, aiming to build on his promising first season and cement his place as a key player in Inzaghi’s squad. He will be the only attacker present at the start of the training camp, with Lautaro, Thuram and Arnautović unavailable due to international commitments or vacation.
