Inter are showing interest in Juventus wing-back Andrea Cambiaso, with the Turin club potentially willing to sell for a fee of at least €40 million, according to reports in Italy. The potential deal is being discussed between Juventus’ new CEO Giovanni Carnevali and Inter president Beppe Marotta, who have a long-standing relationship.
Juventus are looking to generate funds through player sales following their failure to qualify for the Champions League, and a significant offer for Cambiaso could prove tempting. Carnevali’s primary objective is to address the financial shortfall and satisfy directives from the club’s ownership, prioritizing financial stability alongside sporting results. The relationship between Carnevali and Marotta is expected to facilitate negotiations.
Cambiaso, 25, joined Juventus from Genoa in 2022 initially on loan before making the move permanent in the summer of 2023. He has become a regular in the Juventus starting eleven, making 32 appearances across all competitions last season, contributing with one goal and five assists. He primarily plays as a left-back but is versatile enough to feature on the right side of defense.
Other players being discussed between the two clubs include Davide Frattesi, currently at Inter, and Juventus’ Bremer. Carlos Augusto’s name has also surfaced in conversations. Juventus are also aiming to raise over €50 million in total from player sales this month, with Nico Gonzalez and Douglas Luiz also potential departures. The sale of Cambiaso would significantly contribute to this target, and allow Juventus to reinvest in other areas of the squad.
Juventus are also attempting to resolve the situation with Arthur Melo, who recently returned from a loan spell at Gremio. The club is seeking a permanent transfer for the Brazilian midfielder, but are struggling to agree on a fee with the Brazilian side. A potential exchange involving Viery has been considered, but negotiations remain stalled. The arrival of Carnevali is expected to inject fresh impetus into these discussions.
