Inter Milan have completed the permanent transfer of Aleksandar Stankovic from Club Bruges, the Serie A club confirmed on Friday. The 20-year-old midfielder returns to the club where his father, Dejan Stankovic, was a celebrated player between 2004 and 2013. Stankovic has signed a contract with Inter Milan that runs until 2031.
Stankovic initially joined Club Bruges from Inter Milan in the summer of 2025, but has now been brought back to Italy after just one season in Belgium. Despite never having made a professional appearance for Inter Milan’s first team, the Serbian international quickly established himself as a key player for Club Bruges, becoming a regular starter and contributing to their Jupiler Pro League title win this past season. He has earned eight caps for Serbia, scoring one goal.
Stankovic’s performances in the Champions League also drew attention, particularly his influential display against Olympique de Marseille in January. He scored one goal and provided two assists in a 3-0 victory over Marseille, a result that contributed significantly to the French side’s elimination from the competition in the group stage. His ability to dictate play from midfield and contribute offensively proved vital for Club Bruges throughout the campaign.
The transfer represents a significant show of faith from Inter Milan in the young midfielder, who is seen as a potential long-term asset. Inter Milan will be hoping Stankovic can build upon his success in Belgium and become a key component of their midfield for years to come. The move provides Stankovic with the opportunity to play for the club where his footballing journey began and follow in the footsteps of his father, a club legend.
