Inter Milan are planning significant changes to their squad this summer, focusing on strengthening both the defense and midfield, according to reports from Italy. The club is preparing for several departures as they look to build on their recent Serie A title win.
Several players are expected to leave the Nerazzurri at the end of the season. Davide Frattesi is confirmed to be departing, with the club seeking a fee of around €25 million for the 26-year-old midfielder. Frattesi has struggled for consistent playing time this season, making only 22 appearances in Serie A, and failing to score a single goal. He was a part of the squad that reached the Champions League final, winning four trophies overall during his time at the club.
In midfield, Inter have identified French midfielder Manu Koné of Roma as their primary target. The 23-year-old, who was also a target last summer, is seen as a physical presence who could complement Calhanoglu in the center of the pitch. The club is also monitoring Curtis Jones, a 25-year-old midfielder from Liverpool, who has experience playing as a right-back. The future of Henrikh Mkhitaryan, whose contract expires in June, remains uncertain, though a potential renewal has not been ruled out. Inter also retain an interest in Atalanta’s Teun Koopmeiners, but a deal would likely require a player sale.
Defensively, Inter are anticipating the departures of Acerbi and Darmian, with the situation surrounding Stefan de Vrij also unclear. Carlos Augusto and Alessandro Bastoni will be assessed. The club aims to bring in at least two new defenders, with Udinese’s Nehuén Pérez and Sassuolo’s Martin Erlić identified as key targets. Pérez is considered a more affordable option with greater physicality, while Erlić is a left-footed central defender. Inter will also assess the futures of young defenders Denzel Dumfries and Yann Bisseck, with offers considered for both players.
Goalkeeping is another area of focus, with Inter planning to sign a backup to Josep Martínez. However, a move for Guglielmo Vicario of Tottenham appears to have fallen through. The club will also evaluate the situations of Aleksandar Stanković and Yanis Massolin, with potential loan moves or sales being considered. These changes signal a proactive approach from Inter as they aim to maintain their dominance in Serie A and compete effectively in European competitions.
