Inter Milan are focusing their transfer efforts on Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah and Union Saint-Gilloise full-back Kahlaili, with Manchester City’s Nathan Aké emerging as a potential further reinforcement, according to reports from Italy. The Nerazzurri have shifted their defensive priorities following complications in their pursuit of Oumar Solet, who was previously considered a key target.
Recent negotiations for Chalobah have progressed, with the player’s representatives arriving in Milan to discuss contract terms. While Como reportedly submitted a bid of around €25 million plus bonuses, Chelsea are seeking a fee closer to €35 million. Inter are aiming to present an offer in that range, potentially including add-ons, to secure the Englishman’s signature. Chalobah is reportedly keen on a move to the San Siro and is considered the club’s primary target.
The change in focus comes after doubts emerged regarding Solet’s suitability. Concerns were raised about the former Salzburg player’s tactical discipline, physical condition, and Udinese’s asking price of approximately €30 million. As a result, Inter have quickly pivoted to Chalobah as their preferred option.
In addition to Chalobah, Inter are also exploring the possibility of signing Nathan Aké from Manchester City. The Dutch international has a contract expiring in 2027 and limited playing time last season, potentially making him a more affordable option. The potential deal is being likened to the transfer of Manuel Akanji from Manchester City to Borussia Dortmund, suggesting Inter may seek a similar structured agreement. Aké and Akanji previously enjoyed success together at Manchester City, winning multiple Premier League titles and the Champions League. Securing Aké would provide further depth and experience to Inter’s defensive line, but Chalobah remains the priority.
