Inter Milan are actively negotiating for four players as they begin to shape their squad for the upcoming season, with Oumar Solet of Udinese and Lazio goalkeeper Ivan Provedel emerging as the closest to completing moves to the Nerazzurri. According to reports from Italy, Inter have submitted initial offers for Marco Palestra, Curtis Jones, Solet, and Provedel, though none have yet been accepted.
Negotiations with Udinese for Solet are progressing positively, with Inter having offered approximately €20 million including bonuses, structured as a loan with an obligation to buy. Udinese initially sought €25 million for the French defender, who has already expressed his desire to join Inter. A counteroffer from Inter is expected this week, likely in the range of €22-23 million, which could finalize the deal. Solet has been a consistent performer for Udinese, establishing himself as a reliable central defender in Serie A.
Regarding Provedel, the finer details of a potential transfer are being discussed with the player’s agent. Inter have offered a two-year contract with an option for a third season, worth €1.5 million per year, matching the current salary of backup goalkeeper Pepo Martinez. The sticking point remains Lazio’s valuation of the goalkeeper, currently set at €5 million. However, with Provedel having only one year remaining on his contract and Lazio possessing alternative goalkeeping options in Motta and Mandas, Inter are confident of securing him for a fee between €2.5-3 million.
The pursuit of Curtis Jones from Liverpool is proving more challenging. Liverpool are reportedly unwilling to release the English midfielder for less than €30 million, while Inter’s initial offer was €20 million. Inter are preparing a new bid closer to €25 million, including a percentage of any future sale going back to Liverpool. A potential sale of Davide Frattesi to Nottingham Forest could facilitate this move, as Inter value Frattesi at €30 million but might accept €25 million.
Finally, Inter’s interest in Marco Palestra of Atalanta faces a significant hurdle due to the clubs’ differing valuations. Inter have offered €45 million including bonuses, but Atalanta are holding out for at least €55 million. Inter are currently hesitant to exceed €50 million for the young talent, who has only had one full season in Serie A. Palestra is keen on joining Inter, but a breakthrough in negotiations will likely require a revised offer or a creative solution to bridge the gap between the two clubs.
