Ipswich Town are facing competition from Everton in their pursuit of Levante forward Karl Etta Eyong, with the newly promoted Premier League club having opened formal discussions with the Spanish side. According to sources, Everton have also registered an official enquiry for the 22-year-old Cameroon international, potentially complicating Ipswich’s efforts to secure a deal.
Etta Eyong joined Levante from Villarreal in September 2025 for a reported €3 million and quickly established himself as a key player, scoring six goals in 30 La Liga appearances during his debut season. The forward, capable of playing in multiple positions, has attracted attention from several clubs due to his pace, physicality, and technical ability. He has reportedly prioritised a move to the Premier League, having previously turned down a lucrative offer from CSKA Moscow in January.
Levante are anticipating significant interest in Etta Eyong this summer and have set an asking price of €30 million (£26m, $40m). Ipswich view the Cameroonian as their primary striker target as they prepare for their return to the top flight, and negotiations are currently progressing, albeit in the early stages. However, Everton’s entry into the race presents a challenge, with the player said to be open to exploring a move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Tottenham Hotspur have also been linked with a potential move for Etta Eyong, though their interest is currently contingent on other transfer targets. Should their pursuits of Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali fall through, Spurs may turn their attention to the Levante forward, potentially deploying him in a midfield role. Crystal Palace have also been mentioned as potential suitors, but their focus remains on securing a deal for Celtic midfielder Arne Engels.
Everton’s interest in Etta Eyong comes amid uncertainty surrounding the future of striker Thierno Barry, who has failed to live up to expectations since joining the club for £27.6m last summer. The Toffees are also considering a permanent deal for Tyrique George, who spent last season on loan at the club. Ipswich will need to accelerate their efforts to secure Etta Eyong’s signature to avoid being overtaken by their Premier League rivals.
