The AFC Bournemouth manager announced his departure from the Cherries last month, immediately making him one of the most sought-after coaches in European football.
Initial speculation linked Iraola with Athletic Club, following the decision of Ernesto Valverde to leave his post. However, the Basque club quickly moved to appoint former Borussia Dortmund manager Edin Terzic, removing Iraola from contention for that role. This opened the door for Premier League clubs to pursue the Spaniard.
Chelsea, currently ninth in the league and facing the prospect of missing out on European competition, had expressed strong interest in Iraola.
