Paris Saint-Germain forward Mathis Jangéal is set to join Portuguese side Famalicão in the coming days, according to Le Parisien. The 18-year-old, who has impressed with PSG’s youth setup, will reportedly sign a permanent deal with the club that finished fifth in the Portuguese top flight last season.
Jangéal has been a key figure for PSG’s under-19 team, reaching the semi-finals of the Youth League where they were narrowly defeated by Real Madrid on penalties. He also played a pivotal role in their recent Gambardella Cup triumph, scoring both goals in the final against Clermont. His performances have established him as a promising talent within the Parisian academy.
Despite being offered a professional contract by PSG, Jangéal has opted to seek regular first-team football elsewhere. The young attacker had attracted interest from several German clubs, including Hamburg, Stuttgart, and Frankfurt, but has ultimately chosen to continue his development in Portugal. Famalicão are expected to integrate him into their senior squad quickly.
This move continues a recent trend of promising young players leaving PSG in search of more consistent playing opportunities. While the club excels at developing talent, opportunities in the first team are often limited, prompting players to explore options abroad. Jangéal’s departure suggests he believes he will receive a more significant role at Famalicão, allowing him to further progress his career. This transfer could provide a valuable opportunity for Jangéal to gain experience in a competitive European league and potentially return to France in the future as a more seasoned player.
