Jonathan Asp Jensen is poised to join Deportivo from Bayern Munich in a permanent transfer worth approximately €6 million, according to Bild. The 20-year-old Danish midfielder has not featured for Bayern’s senior team and spent the previous season on loan at Grasshoppers in the Swiss Super League.
Deportivo have reportedly reached an agreement with Bayern for Jensen, with the move now contingent on the player successfully completing a medical. The transfer is expected to be finalized in the coming days, bringing an end to Jensen’s time with the Bundesliga champions.
Interest in Jensen extended beyond Spain, with Bild reporting that Lazio were also pursuing the player. However, the Italian club were unable to come to terms with Bayern regarding a fee or other conditions of a potential transfer. This ultimately paved the way for Deportivo to secure the midfielder’s signature.
Jensen enjoyed a productive loan spell at Grasshoppers last season, demonstrating his attacking capabilities with nine goals and six assists in 40 appearances across all competitions. His performances in Switzerland highlighted his potential and attracted attention from several European clubs. He joined Bayern’s youth setup from FC Nordsjælland in 2021, but has yet to break into the first team.
The move to Deportivo provides Jensen with the opportunity to establish himself as a regular first-team player in a competitive European league. For Deportivo, the signing represents an investment in a young, promising talent who could contribute significantly to their midfield. This transfer allows Bayern to recoup a fee for a player who was unlikely to feature prominently in their immediate plans, while also potentially including a future sell-on clause.
