Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones is the subject of strong interest from Inter Milan, with the Serie A club publicly confirming their pursuit of the player. Inter director Piero Ausilio stated that Jones is a player they “like” and that they are monitoring developments, according to reports. The 25-year-old has been a consistent squad member for Liverpool since breaking into the first team in 2019, though he has not always been a regular starter.
Jones featured in all but four of Liverpool’s Premier League matches this past season, starting 18 of those games. With his current contract set to expire next summer, Liverpool appear willing to consider offers to avoid losing him on a free transfer or for a reduced fee. TEAMtalk’s transfer insider, Graeme Bailey, initially reported Inter’s interest on May 22nd, noting that Jones is “increasingly open” to a move to Italy.
While Aston Villa have also expressed tentative interest, Jones is reportedly favouring a transfer to Inter Milan, preferring a move abroad over remaining in the Premier League. Inter first made contact regarding Jones in January and have now returned with a renewed effort to finalize a summer deal. The Italian club views Jones as a suitable addition to their midfield, appreciating his technical ability, tactical versatility, and experience at the highest level.
Inter’s success in integrating English players and those with Premier League experience is also believed to be a factor in their pursuit of Jones. The final decision rests with Liverpool’s new manager, Andoni Iraola, who is expected to oversee a significant squad overhaul this summer, already addressing departures of players like Ibrahima Konate, Mo Salah, and Andy Robertson. Jones’ potential exit would create another gap in the Liverpool squad that would need to be filled, despite not being a guaranteed starter.
