Josuha Guilavogui has announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 35, bringing an end to a 17-year career. The French midfielder revealed the decision via social media, stating it was time to write ‘the famous sentence’ and signalling the end of his playing days.
Guilavogui began his professional career at Saint-Étienne before spells at Bordeaux and Wolfsburg. He most recently played for Leeds United, though his last appearance came in the spring of 2024. The Toulon native made seven appearances for the French national team, including a match against Brazil.
During his career, Guilavogui won the Coupe de la Ligue with Bordeaux in 2013. He also had a stint with Atlético Madrid, where he played seven matches. While his time in Spain was brief, it represents a notable chapter in his career that spanned multiple leagues and countries.
