Juventus and Milan target Lewandowski in summer transfer push
Juventus and AC Milan are both considering a move for Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski this summer, according to reports in Italy. The two Serie A giants, led by managers Massimiliano Allegri and Luciano Spalletti respectively, have identified the veteran Polish international as a primary target to bolster their attacks for a renewed title challenge next season. Lewandowski's entourage is expected in Milan this weekend, with a summit planned with Juventus, who currently appear the more serious suitors.
Both Allegri and Spalletti have reportedly asked their club hierarchies for at least four major signings to elevate their squads to a championship level, with a focus on ready-made, high-calibre players. Securing a striker of Lewandowski's profile is central to this ambition. The 35-year-old continues to command a significant salary, reported to be in double figures annually, which presents a potential obstacle, particularly for Milan CEO Giorgio Furlani, who is said to be less attracted to the striker due to his age and wage demands.
Beyond the attack, the two Tuscan managers share further identical requests: a leader in midfield and a new defensive totem. Both clubs would have pursued Bayern Munich's Kim Min-jae to reinforce their back lines, but the German champions are not currently inclined to sell. Consequently, Milan has already shifted focus, reportedly courting Lazio's Mario Gila and Lecce's Tiago Gabriel, facing competition from several clubs across Europe.
In midfield, Juventus is attempting a major coup by targeting Bernardo Silva. The Portuguese playmaker recently announced his departure from Manchester City and represents a potential high-value signing akin to Milan's acquisition of Luka Modric last year. According to the reports, Juventus is working with Silva's agent, Jorge Mendes, to structure a deal. The player is asking for a two-year contract worth 8 million euros net per season, while the Bianconeri hope to close the agreement at around 6 million net per season plus bonuses. A new summit between the parties is expected in the coming days to try and reach an agreement.
The reported aggressive market strategies of both Juventus and Milan serve as a clear warning to reigning champions Inter. With both historic rivals intent on significantly strengthening their squads this summer, the battle for the Scudetto next season is poised to intensify, marking a potential shift in the balance of power in Serie A.
