Juventus and Roma show interest in Union Berlin's Derrick Köhn
Juventus and AS Roma are both tracking 1.FC Union Berlin defender Derrick Köhn, according to a report from German publication BILD. The 27-year-old left-back, who impressed for Ghana in their recent friendly against Germany, is reportedly open to a move to Serie A.
Köhn is said to have come to the attention of the Italian clubs once again during Monday's international match in Stuttgart, where he provided an assist in Ghana's 2-1 defeat. The wing-back is under contract with the Bundesliga side until 2029, and his deal does not contain a known release clause, giving Union Berlin full control over any potential negotiations.
The Berlin club signed Köhn from Galatasaray for a fee of approximately €5 million just last summer. Sporting director Horst Heldt would therefore be in a position to command a significant profit on any sale. Köhn is expected to be a key figure for Ghana at this summer's World Cup in North America, a platform he intends to use to further showcase his abilities.
The interest from Juventus and Roma adds a new dimension to Köhn's future, though Union Berlin are under no immediate pressure to sell given the player's long-term contract. Any formal approach from the Italian suitors would likely require a substantial offer to persuade the German club to part with a player they only recently acquired.
