Juventus consider Kim Min-Jae loan as Bremer's Premier League future remains uncertain
Juventus are exploring a potential loan move for Bayern Munich defender Kim Min-Jae as a contingency plan should star centre-back Gleison Bremer depart for the Premier League this summer. According to reports from Italy, the club's sporting director, Damien Comolli, has identified the South Korean international as a primary target to bolster the defence, with initial inquiries already made.
The interest in Kim Min-Jae is intrinsically linked to the future of Bremer. The Brazilian defender, 29, has attracted significant interest from English clubs, who are reportedly prepared to offer between 40 and 50 million euros. Juventus would consider such a fee a painful but financially useful sale, and are preparing a succession plan. Kim, who won the Serie A title with Napoli under current Juventus manager Luciano Spalletti in 2023, is viewed as one of the few defenders capable of replicating Bremer's impact.
The proposed deal for Kim Min-Jae would initially be a loan move, described as a "bridge loan" in the event of Bremer's sale. His existing relationship with Spalletti is a key factor in Juventus's strategy; the manager was instrumental in Kim's development during their time together at Napoli, transforming him into one of Europe's most highly-rated defenders. Kim himself has previously stated he joined Napoli specifically to work with Spalletti.
Financial hurdles remain a significant obstacle. Kim Min-Jae earns a salary in excess of 10 million euros per year at Bayern Munich, a figure that exceeds Juventus's current wage structure. Bremer earns approximately half that amount. However, Kim's desire for more playing time—having been used sparingly this season with only 10 full 90-minute appearances—and his contract with Bayern running until 2028 could work in Juventus's favour in negotiations. The German champions are understood to be open to letting him leave.
The broader context sees Juventus planning a targeted market campaign to raise the squad's quality, with a reinforcement sought for each department. The club's ability to finalise any major deal, including for Kim Min-Jae, is likely contingent on securing qualification for next season's UEFA Champions League, which would provide crucial financial leverage. For now, the situation remains in a probing phase, with Juventus ensuring they are not caught unprepared should a key asset like Bremer depart.
