Juventus are assessing the feasibility of signing Andy Robertson, the departing Liverpool left-back, whose contract expires on June 30th. Initial inquiries have reportedly given the Turin club some encouragement, according to sources in Italy.
Robertson had previously reached a verbal agreement with Tottenham Hotspur in January, under then-manager Thomas Frank. However, the situation at Spurs has changed significantly since, with the club battling relegation before Roberto De Zerbi’s arrival as manager. De Zerbi, who recently secured Premier League safety for Tottenham, will have a key role in shaping the club’s transfer strategy and must now determine whether Robertson fits into his plans.
Juventus are attempting to capitalize on the uncertainty at Tottenham, seeking an opportunity to persuade Robertson to choose their project. The player is reportedly open to considering Juventus’ offer, prioritizing an appealing sporting project over guaranteed European football – Tottenham will not participate in European competition next season. Robertson, 30, brings a wealth of experience and a strong mentality, qualities Juventus believe are currently lacking in their squad.
Alongside their pursuit of Robertson, Juventus are also considering other options to strengthen their left-back position. Lorenzo Bernasconi of Atalanta is a domestic option, but a transfer could cost between €25-30 million. Alejandro Grimaldo, currently at Bayer Leverkusen with a contract expiring in 2027, is also of interest, with a potential price tag of around €15 million. The club is also monitoring Oscar Mingueza, a free agent after leaving Celta Vigo, though they face competition from Premier League clubs for his signature. Juventus previously considered Mingueza in January but balked at a €4 million fee.
