Juventus are considering a move for Manchester United forward Joshua Zirkzee, though a permanent transfer appears unlikely at this stage. According to reports, United are only open to a loan deal without an option to buy, similar to a potential arrangement for Franco Mastantuono with Real Madrid. The possibility of Zirkzee joining Juventus hinges on the club securing a new central striker, with Kolo, Sorloth, and Mateta all potential targets.
This interest in Zirkzee is strengthened by the arrival of Frederic Massara as Chief Football Officer at Juventus; Massara was a keen admirer of the player during his time at Roma in January, before pursuing Donyell Malen due to United’s high demands. Juventus may revisit the Zirkzee option if their primary target for a second forward, Mateo Pellegrino, proves unattainable.
Meanwhile, Juventus forward Lois Openda is reportedly close to joining Lyon on loan. The move represents a step back for Openda in terms of ambition, but is seen as necessary for him to rediscover his form after a prolonged goal drought, dating back to December. Openda had previously been informed by Juventus that he would not feature prominently this season.
The proposed deal with Lyon is a dry loan with a right to buy option, a formula Juventus prefers to avoid further financial strain after spending €42.75 million to acquire Openda from RB Leipzig last summer. Lyon appears to be Openda’s preferred destination, and the clubs are currently negotiating the final details of the agreement, including whether Lyon will cover Openda’s full wages or if Juventus will contribute a portion.
