Juventus are under pressure to generate €13 million in player sales by next Tuesday to improve their financial standing and avoid a further capital increase, according to reports in Italy. The club’s new sporting director, Giovanni Carnevali, is said to have been surprised by the challenging situation upon arrival, with limited progress on both incoming and outgoing transfers.
Juventus’ transfer strategy this summer prioritizes player sales before making any significant acquisitions, a necessity driven by financial constraints following their failure to qualify for the Champions League. Any new signings must have a lower financial impact on the balance sheet than previous recruits.
The upcoming World Cup adds another layer of complexity to the transfer window, making it difficult to negotiate deals for players involved in the tournament due to their focus on international commitments and the potential for injuries to inflate transfer values. As a result, there have been no offers yet for Gleison Bremer, currently with the Brazilian national team.
Bremer himself is reportedly unhappy with speculation linking him with a move away, despite previously expressing a desire for the club to accelerate its return to winning ways. His release clause stands at €58 million, potentially attracting interest from Premier League or Bundesliga clubs. Similarly, Fabio Cambiaso is reluctant to leave, prioritizing a continued role at Juventus, although the club may be willing to sell him for around €40 million.
Juventus are exploring potential sales of several other players, including Jonathan David, though there has been limited external interest in him recently. They are considering a loan deal with an obligation to buy for Openda. Talks are ongoing with Bologna regarding Fabio Miretti, potentially bringing in around €15 million, while Joao Mario is also a target for the Rossoblu, though he reportedly favors a move to Fiorentina. Negotiations for Nico Gonzalez with Atletico Madrid have stalled due to a valuation gap, and Arthur and Alessio Di Gregorio have been linked with a move to Besiktas, though Di Gregorio is holding out for offers from the English Premier League.
The club hopes to finalize some sales this week to unlock funds and kickstart their transfer activity, ending what has been described as a frustratingly slow start to the window.
