Juventus are preparing for a busy summer transfer window as they look to alleviate a significant financial burden in midfield, with Teun Koopmeiners, Douglas Luiz, and Arthur Melo all identified as potentially expendable assets. According to reports from TuttoSport, the club faces a total of €113 million in financial commitments related to these three players, prompting sporting director Giovanni Carnevali to seek solutions.
Koopmeiners, signed under the previous sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli, represents a particularly significant financial strain. The club values his remaining book value at approximately €29 million, with a gross salary of €5.7 million per year until June 2029. While Juventus may attempt to reintegrate the Dutchman, potentially in a left-back role, his high cost makes a sale preferable. Koopmeiners himself is reportedly uninterested in a move to Turkey, where Galatasaray previously expressed interest in January.
Douglas Luiz has also struggled to make an impact since arriving at Juventus, following a difficult season split between Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa. Despite a previous connection with manager Unai Emery, the Brazilian midfielder’s form has not improved. Juventus are concerned about his financial impact, with a remaining book value of almost €30 million and a gross salary exceeding €9 million per season until 2029, potentially mirroring the loan strategy employed with Arthur Melo.
Arthur’s situation is equally complex, with a recent attempt to secure a permanent move to Gremio collapsing due to financial disagreements. The Brazilian club was unwilling to meet Juventus’s demands for a €10 million transfer fee. Despite his desire for a return to Brazil, or potentially a move to Turkey with Besiktas, Juventus still hold €12 million in remaining book value and salary obligations for the midfielder until June 2027. Carnevali is tasked with finding a resolution to these issues, aiming to significantly reduce the financial burden on the club’s midfield.
