Juventus are monitoring Manchester City defender Nathan Aké as a potential summer reinforcement, according to reports in Italy. The Serie A club are simultaneously battling for Champions League qualification under manager Massimiliano Allegri and planning for the upcoming transfer window.
Ake has seen limited playing time this season, making 16 Premier League appearances, often as a substitute. The 31-year-old reportedly informed his agents he is seeking a new club where he can feature more prominently, with his contract at the Etihad Stadium set to expire in June 2027. Manchester City may be willing to sell this summer to avoid losing him on a free transfer.
Despite Aké’s desire for more minutes, manager Pep Guardiola has publicly praised the defender’s qualities. Ahead of Manchester City’s match against Crystal Palace, Guardiola stated Aké is “one of the best” players he’s ever managed in terms of concentration and reliability. He highlighted Aké’s performance in the Carabao Cup final and recent match against Brentford as “impeccable,” also noting his excellent character and successful adaptation since joining from Bournemouth.
Guardiola expressed hope that Aké would remain with the club, but acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding his future. The City manager emphasized Aké’s versatility, noting his ability to play centre-back, left wing-back, and even full-back, a quality that would appeal to Juventus manager Allegri’s flexible tactical systems.
Juventus are attracted to Aké’s experience and adaptability, seeing him as a suitable addition to their squad. His ability to play multiple positions would be valuable in Allegri’s evolving 4-2-3-1/3-4-2-1 formations. Several other clubs are also reportedly interested in Aké, potentially leading to a competitive auction for his signature in the summer transfer window. The transfer could allow Manchester City to recoup a fee for a player who may otherwise depart without a transfer fee.
