Juventus’ ownership, management, and manager held a summit on Wednesday to discuss plans for strengthening the squad in the upcoming transfer window, according to reports in the Italian press. The meeting, involving John Elkann, Damien Comolli, and Luciano Spalletti, aimed to address recent tensions between Comolli and Spalletti and establish a unified approach to team building.
Elkann reportedly assured those present that the ownership group would support a significant transfer market push despite the club’s failure to qualify for the Champions League. The primary objective is to reinforce the team effectively, with a focus on bringing in experienced players. This comes after a season where Juventus finished outside the Champions League qualification spots, highlighting the need for improvement.
Spalletti has repeatedly stressed the need for ready-made players with strong character and experience. Specifically, he has identified four key areas for reinforcement: a goalkeeper to replace the currently uncertain Alessandro Di Gregorio, following complications in pursuing Alisson Becker; a ball-playing defender, with a preference for former Napoli player Kim Min-jae, potentially arriving on loan as part of a deal that could see Bremer move to Bayern Munich; an attacking midfielder capable of performing in tight spaces, with Brahim Diaz of Real Madrid identified as a target; and the contract renewal of striker Dusan Vlahovic.
Negotiations with Vlahovic’s representatives are currently stalled, with Juventus offering a contract worth €7 million per year including bonuses. The sticking point appears to be demands related to signing bonuses and agent commissions. Securing Vlahovic’s future is considered crucial by Spalletti, who views the Serbian international as a central figure in his project. The club will now look to address these issues and move forward with their summer transfer plans, aiming to rebuild and compete at a higher level next season.
