Juventus goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio will not be joining Besiktas, according to reports from TuttoSport. The Turkish club, recently appointing Vincenzo Italiano as their new manager, had expressed interest in taking Di Gregorio on loan, but the move has stalled due to a lack of agreement between the two clubs and the player himself.
Di Gregorio’s future at Juventus has been uncertain following a season marked by errors, prompting the club to seek a replacement. He arrived at Juventus two years ago but has struggled to consistently maintain a starting position, leading to speculation about a potential departure this summer. His agent, Carlo Alberto Belloni, met with the player in Milan to discuss his options and chart a path forward.
Juventus have identified Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez as their preferred replacement in goal. The 33-year-old Argentinian international has reportedly agreed to a three-year contract with the Turin club, but a transfer fee still needs to be negotiated with Aston Villa. Martinez is currently preparing for the Copa America with Argentina, having recently recovered from a hand injury sustained before the Europa League final.
Juventus’s new CEO and technical director, Giovanni Carnevali, who only recently took up his position, has made securing Martinez a priority as he begins to reshape the squad for manager Luciano Spalletti. Carnevali has been actively involved in both incoming and outgoing transfers as the club aims to comply with UEFA’s financial regulations. The acquisition of Jeremie Boga from Nice, following a six-month loan spell, has already been completed as part of this restructuring process. The club is actively seeking to generate funds through player sales to ensure financial stability.
The failure of the Di Gregorio-Besiktas deal leaves Juventus searching for alternative options for the Italian goalkeeper, while the pursuit of Martinez continues to be a key focus for the club’s transfer strategy.
