Juventus Women have completed the signing of Alba Redondo from Real Madrid for a fee of under €150,000, according to reports in Italy. The move comes as a result of a strengthened relationship between the club and the Leaderbrock agency, initially forged during a failed pursuit of Ferrán Torres in 2020.
Juventus, under the direction of then-sporting director Fabio Paratici, heavily courted Torres while he was at Valencia. The player reportedly began house-hunting in Turin, anticipating a move, but a deal ultimately fell through due to disagreements between the clubs. Manchester City subsequently secured Torres’ signature for a reported €35 million.
Despite missing out on Torres, the failed transfer fostered a strong connection between Juventus and Leaderbrock, with both parties agreeing to prioritize future collaborations. This commitment led to the arrival of Kenan Yildiz in the summer of 2022, a transfer facilitated by the established relationship. Leaderbrock represents several players, including Pedri and Carlos Romero, and has been instrumental in bringing Rafa Marin and Alisson Santos to Napoli, as well as Adin Licina to Juventus.
Redondo’s transfer to Juventus Women is similarly linked to this relationship, as Leaderbrock also represents the Spanish forward. The player, with one year remaining on her contract at Real Madrid, felt a lack of confidence from her club, creating an opportunity for Juventus to express their interest. Juventus Women were able to offer Redondo a significant salary increase and a clear role within the team, appealing to her desire for international experience, consistent playing time, and a return to the Spanish national team. The transfer fee was relatively low, reflecting Redondo’s contract situation and the proactive approach of Juventus and Leaderbrock.
This move signifies a continuation of the positive relationship between Juventus and Leaderbrock, a connection that originated with the pursuit of Ferrán Torres and has now yielded several successful player acquisitions for both the men’s and women’s teams.
