Juventus are reportedly considering a move for Manchester City midfielder Tijjani Reijnders. According to reports from England, the Bianconeri have identified the Dutch international as a potential target to reinforce their midfield ahead of the new season. The 26-year-old has seen his playing time diminish significantly at the Etihad Stadium since February, leading to speculation over his future.
Reijnders has been an unused substitute in six of City's last nine matches and has managed only 65 minutes of football across his last three appearances, with no playing time recorded since April. This marginalisation is understood to have opened the door for potential suitors, with Juventus monitoring the situation. The club's sporting director, Cristiano Giuntoli, is tasked with aligning technical needs with financial constraints this summer, and a player with Serie A experience is seen as a valuable profile.
The midfielder's prior spell with AC Milan is considered a major asset in any potential deal, as it would negate a lengthy adaptation period to Italian football. Juventus are keen to avoid a repeat of the difficult integration experienced by recent signing Douglas Luiz. Reijnders' pedigree, having played for top clubs like Milan and Manchester City where results are demanded, also adds to his appeal in Turin. However, any move would be contingent on structuring a financially viable deal.
Manchester City signed Reijnders for a fee reported to be around 70 million euros last summer, a figure comparable to what Juventus paid for Teun Koopmeiners. Given the need for multiple targeted operations to overhaul the squad, a major outright investment for Reijnders is considered unlikely. According to the reports, credible discussions would require an arrangement that alleviates the financial burden, such as a loan deal, a player exchange, or another structured transaction. For now, only preliminary intermediary proposals are said to have been registered with the club.
Juventus are expected to be active in reshaping their midfield, with Koopmeiners also potentially departing. The potential acquisition of Reijnders would represent an attempt to add proven quality and top-level experience to their engine room. His familiarity with Serie A could allow him to make an immediate impact should the complex financial hurdles be overcome.
