Juventus are considering a move for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Lee Kang-In as an alternative to Real Madrid’s Brahim Diaz, according to reports in Italy. The club’s newly appointed CEO, Giovanni Carnevali, has dispatched scouts to observe potential reinforcements during the ongoing World Cup tournament.
Interest in Lee Kang-In emerged during discussions with PSG regarding Randal Kolo Muani, with the South Korean international identified as possessing similar qualities to the Moroccan forward. Initial talks centered around a potential swap deal involving Jonathan David, but those negotiations stalled due to differing valuations and transfer structures. Juventus are hesitant to commit to a definitive purchase for Kolo Muani, preferring a loan with an obligation to buy, while PSG are seeking a permanent transfer for approximately €40 million.
Lee Kang-In, born in 2001, began his youth career in South Korea, gaining recognition through a televised reality show focused on young footballing talent. He moved to Valencia at the age of ten, making his first-team debut at seventeen. After a spell with Mallorca, PSG invested €22 million to secure his services in 2023. Last season, the attacking midfielder featured in 1843 minutes, registering four goals and five assists under manager Luis Enrique.
At the World Cup, Lee Kang-In provided an assist against the Czech Republic, demonstrating his playmaking ability with a through ball for Hwang In-beom. Scouts note his robust physique and ability to cross the ball effectively, though he has less international experience than Brahim Diaz. Atletico Madrid are also reportedly interested in the player, prepared to offer a fee of €25 million. Juventus are currently evaluating their options and assessing the feasibility of a transfer for Lee Kang-In.
