Juventus are in advanced negotiations to sign Randal Kolo Muani from Paris Saint-Germain, with the move representing an attempt to mend fractured relations between the two clubs, according to reports in Italy. The transfer is expected to proceed, though a final agreement has yet to be formally announced.
The need to rebuild the relationship with PSG stems from previous dealings that soured due to the actions of former PSG sporting director Damien Comolli, who reportedly engaged in unproductive talks with multiple clubs without reaching a resolution. This ultimately led to Kolo Muani’s initial move to Tottenham and PSG’s subsequent pursuit of another forward, Openda. The fallout from these events contributed to Comolli’s eventual departure from the Parisian club.
Juventus majority shareholder John Elkann is personally invested in repairing ties with Nasser Al-Khelaifi, the chairman of PSG, due to existing personal and business connections. Elkann has reportedly instructed Juventus to prioritize a diplomatic approach, with less emphasis on strict financial limitations. Giovanni Carnevali, a Juventus representative, is leading the negotiations, leveraging his established rapport with PSG’s sporting director, Luis Campos.
PSG are currently seeking a fee of €50 million for Kolo Muani, despite signing him from Eintracht Frankfurt for €90 million in 2023. Juventus are hoping to reduce this figure to around €40 million through the inclusion of performance-based bonuses and clauses. However, it is anticipated that the improved relationship between the clubs will facilitate a compromise, potentially involving intervention from senior figures at both organizations.
Carnevali has already reached an agreement with Kolo Muani himself, outlining a five-year contract with a net salary of approximately €5 million per season. The player is reportedly keen on returning to Turin, a factor that Juventus believe will positively influence PSG’s willingness to negotiate. PSG are eager to avoid losing Kolo Muani on a free transfer when his current contract expires in 2028.
Juventus aim to finalize the deal in the early days of July, making Kolo Muani available for the start of pre-season training on July 13th. Manager Massimiliano Allegri views him as a key addition to the squad, capable of playing as a central striker or supporting a more physical forward.
