Juventus are actively pursuing two goalkeeping options as they seek to bolster their squad ahead of the upcoming season, with Tottenham Hotspur’s Guglielmo Vicario and Parma’s Zion Suzuki emerging as prime targets. According to reports from Italy, the club is exploring both a potential loan deal for Vicario and a permanent transfer for Suzuki.
The 29-year-old Vicario has fallen out of favour at Tottenham following the appointment of new manager Ange Postecoglou and is available for loan, with the possibility of a future obligation to buy for a fee in the region of €15-16 million. Juventus are reportedly viewing him as a reliable, experienced option, aligning with the club’s historical preference for established players.
However, Parma’s 23-year-old goalkeeper Zion Suzuki has also become a strong contender, with Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri reportedly favouring his profile. The club’s CEO Giovanni Carnevali is currently negotiating with Parma, with a potential fee of around €30 million being discussed. Suzuki, who represents Japan internationally, would be a more forward-thinking acquisition, potentially becoming the first Japanese goalkeeper to represent the club.
Negotiations with Parma are proving challenging, with the club’s current CEO Federico Cherubini adopting a firm stance, mirroring past dealings between the two clubs. Furthermore, Juventus face competition from Paris Saint-Germain, who are considering sacrificing their current goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier to create space for Suzuki in their squad. The Japanese shot-stopper is weighing his options, also attracting interest from Aston Villa.
Juventus sold goalkeeper Giovanni Daffara to Parma for €6 million earlier this summer, a transaction that could potentially offset some of the cost of acquiring Suzuki. While Juventus are confident in reaching an agreement with Parma, securing Suzuki’s commitment remains a separate hurdle. The club is simultaneously exploring other attacking options, including Josh Zirkzee of Manchester United and Demirovic of Stuttgart. Juventus began their pre-season preparations with a friendly against Standard Liege, fielding both Michele Di Gregorio and Mattia Perin in goal.
