Juventus have received a €19 million transfer fee following goalkeeper Ilir Muharemovic’s move from Sassuolo to Leeds United, according to reports in Italy. The deal represents a significant financial boost for the Turin club, allowing them to begin pursuing their primary transfer targets this summer.
Juventus originally held a 50% resale clause for Muharemovic, who they previously sold to Sassuolo. While the club had considered re-signing the player, a bid of approximately €38 million from Leeds proved too substantial to ignore. Rather than investing an estimated €12-13 million to bring him back to Turin, Juventus will receive half of the Leeds offer, effectively unlocking funds for other areas of the squad.
This sale is particularly timely as Juventus manager Luciano Spalletti seeks to strengthen two key positions: goalkeeper and centre-forward. The club’s sporting directors, Giovanni Carnevali and Antonio Massara, are reportedly continuing their pursuit of Aston Villa’s Martinez, despite indications from Villa that he will remain with the club. Vicario is being considered as an alternative should a deal for Martinez prove unattainable.
Further forward, Juventus are evaluating several options to bolster their attack. Alexander Sorloth is currently a primary target, viewed as an alternative to more expensive options like Kolo Muani. The club is also monitoring the availability of Folarin Balogun, with the coming days expected to be crucial in determining which players Spalletti will welcome to the club. Juventus will continue to assess opportunities to strengthen other positions as the transfer window progresses, but the goalkeeper and centre-forward roles are currently prioritized.
