Juventus are once again considering a move for Sassuolo forward Domenico Berardi this summer, according to reports emerging from Italy. The club views the 30-year-old as a potential reinforcement for coach Luciano Spalletti’s attacking options, particularly on the flanks. This pursuit extends back over two decades, with previous attempts to secure Berardi’s signature repeatedly failing.
Juventus’ interest has been reignited following the arrival of Giovanni Carnevali, the former Sassuolo CEO, at the Turin club. Carnevali publicly praised Berardi in December, stating that he would be a valuable addition to any major club and suggesting the player is currently at the peak of his powers. This endorsement has seemingly prompted Juventus to revisit a deal for a player they have long admired.
Berardi has been a mainstay at Sassuolo since joining their youth setup in 2012, becoming the club’s all-time leading scorer. Throughout his career, he has consistently demonstrated his ability to score and create chances in Serie A, though he has also faced periods impacted by injury. Last season, he made 26 appearances across all competitions, scoring 9 goals and providing 6 assists.
The pursuit of Berardi comes as Juventus look to strengthen their squad ahead of the upcoming season. While a transfer fee has not yet been disclosed, the arrival of Carnevali could potentially facilitate negotiations. The move would provide Spalletti with another experienced attacking option, adding depth and versatility to the Juventus front line. It remains to be seen whether Carnevali can finally conclude a deal that has eluded the club for so long, potentially bringing a close to this protracted transfer saga.
